Although Type72 fitsone type of the tale, Baer notes that "it actually refers to quite another story which Thompson summarizes briefly under K1061"

Baer concludes: "For the first part of Nights 39 and 41, and for all of Nights 40, the evidence points to an African source. For th e"tails in the ground" portion of 39 and 41, the immediate source coul be either Europe or Africa although, it it is Europe, that leaves the problem of transmission still unresolved."
