C122. Baer (p. 123). Brother Rabbit Has Fun at the Ferry

This is Chase122.

Types ATU1641 Doctor Know-All
Motifs
N0688: what is in the dish: poor crab
Notes

Baer's entire commentary is as follows: "This is an Indo/European story frequently told by American Negroes. Baughman's ten references under AT1641 include seven told by American Negroes as are all those under N688. The American negro version often is Poor Coon."

=======

India makes me think this should be an African story also...? And if there are West Indies versions...? This is not one of my favorite Rabbit stories, but I wish Baer had done some more analysis here beyond Baughman.
